Dr. Greta Mitchell Williams
Originally from Chicago, I attended CPS from 1st-8th grades and went to St. Ignatius College Prep for high school. Spelman College (BS) and Purdue University (PhD) were my homes away from home and my career in education began after I earned my PhD. I have over 20 years of experience in K-12 education as a high school teacher and leader, teaching Chemistry, as well as SAT Prep and Research. I served as a Math and Science Department Chair at a selective enrollment Math and Science Academy, a District Director of Curriculum and Assessment, and a Grade Level Principal for Grade 11 students. While I am new to CPS and the K-8 space, I have had a variety of experiences that have prepared me for leading and learning with adults and students. I am excited to continue my learning with the CWLA community. I’ve already had the chance to make some new friends on the playground this summer.
When I’m not enjoying the work of teaching and learning, I like to garden, ride my bike, listen to music, support my college graduate sons and socialize with friends and family. I am also a full-time graduate student in the EdD program in Urban Education Leadership at the University of Illinois-Chicago.
