Hola a todos! Welcome to the Spanish class!
My name is Elena Vinagre and I have just arrived from Madrid (Spain) to Chicago. I am going to be teaching Spanish to your children. I hope you are as excited as I am. It’s going to be an amazing year and we will definitely enjoy learning Spanish.
Learning any language is not an easy task, it requires time because we can not learn a language overnight. However, when we enjoy learning, it makes everything easier. That’s one of my goals: to make your children love speaking Spanish by means of music, games, coloring, reading, dancing, writing, watching videos, team work, pair work…
We will follow the schedule in the Spanish Google classroom and I will try to make it easy for everyone so you, parents, can help your children when needed .
Kindergarten, first and second grade Spanish programs are classroom centered. Students will have weekly vocabulary words. Please, practice these lists regularly with your child and learn Spanish along with them. K-2 students will be tested on their vocabulary regularly.
Beginning in third grade, the Spanish students start to study grammar and write. The students should bring their supplies every day: notebooks, pencils and a folder for Spanish.
Students in grades 3-8 will be regularly tested in Spanish vocabulary and grammar. Please, supervise your child’s work. Google classroom can be very useful!
Learning a language also implies familiarity with culture. That’s why we will be celebrating the different festivities that CWLS offers our students.
My email is evinagreparra1@cps.edu, please feel free to contact me if you have any comments, questions or concerns.
Thank you for your support, cooperation and the opportunity to teach your children Spanish.
Let’s get it started!!! Empecemos!!!
