Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Sarah Gayman
I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona and will always be a desert dweller at heart. I moved to Chicago in 2015 and I love it here with the exception of the winter weather! I joined the CWLA community in 2016 and feel so grateful to have found a home at such a wonderful school.
This will be my 15th year teaching! I have a Bachelor's in Elementary Education from the University of Arizona (Go Cats!) and a Master's in Language, Literacy, and Culture from UIC. I am also a National Board Certified Teacher. I am a member of National Council for Teachers of English and National Council for Teachers of Mathematics and have attended several conferences by each of these amazing organizations. Ms. Nelson and I will be presenting at the National Council for Teachers of English general conference in the fall this year!
I live in Pilsen with my family. My husband teaches high school English in a different district. My son Theo gave me the gift of being a mom and has helped me to be a better person and teacher. I also have a dog (AJ) and cat (Charlie). During school breaks I love to travel and learn with my family. This summer we were able to spend a few weeks in Morocco!
